Have you ever considered mixing black grapes with onions to prevent blood clots? Or maybe combine apples and leafy vegetables for a better mood? If not, no wonder, because who would have thought of this?

According to The Daily Star, nutritionist Rob Hobson has discovered combinations of foods that can significantly improve health, but are also healthy in themselves.

For example, fish curry, which combines turmeric and oily fish, can be a powerful anti-inflammatory, and the combination of banana and yogurt can improve bone health and help with intestinal bacteria.

Thus, black grapes in combination with onions help prevent cardiovascular diseases, cancer and neurological disorders, and some of the more unusual combinations are garlic and honey; which help with upper respiratory tract infections; and almonds and berries; which together help prevent heart disease.

"The body needs synergies to function properly, and combining two foods can sometimes improve their impact on the body," say nutritionists.

For example, black pepper and turmeric work better together because turmeric has an active ingredient known as curcumin, which is considered to have anti-inflammatory properties but is not easily absorbed, so it is easier with black pepper containing piperine for better absorption.

Together, these two ingredients help relieve joint pain.
